* 제 목 : 선교적 교회 - 10. 인생 지도

               얼마 전에 ‘고산자 대동여지도’라는 영화(사진 1-고산자 대동여지도)를 봤습니다.  2016년 가을 쯤에 나온 영화인데, 1800년대의 실존 인물인 김정호의 일대기에 관한 영화였습니다.  그가 누구인지 아십니까?  기억이 가물거리신다면 이 지도를 보시면 됩니다.(사진2 대동여지도1)  대동여지도(大東輿地圖)입니다.  김정호는 이 지도를 제작한 사람입니다.  이 영화는 소설가 박범신의 동명 소설을 각색해서 만들었습니다.  김정호에 대한 여러 가지 역사적인 견해가 있지만 소설과 영화에 근거해서 말씀을 드릴까 합니다. 

               김정호는 1861년, 개인의 집념과 노력으로 현대 축적 지도와 거의 유사한 실측 지도를 만들었습니다.  이 지도의 특징은 크게 세 가지 정도로 요약할 수 있습니다.  첫째는 정확성입니다.  ‘대동여지도’는 세로 6.7m, 가로 3.8m의 대형지도로 조선 시대 제작된 전국지도 중 가장 큽니다.  조선의 산맥과 강줄기 하나까지 정확하고 세밀하게 그려 넣었습니다.  두 번째는 분첩절첩식(分帖折疊式)으로 만들어졌다는 겁니다.(사진 3 대동여지도2)  접어서 들고 다닐 수 있었고, 내가 원하는 한 지역의 지도만 들고 다닐 수 있었습니다.  셋째는 목판으로 먼저 제작되었다는 점입니다.  지도가 필요한 백성 누구나 목판으로 인쇄하여 사용할 수 있었습니다.  당시 정권을 장악하고 있던 흥선대원군은 김정호의 지도가 청나라 및 일본 군대에게 유출되어 나라를 위태롭게 한다고 판단하여 지도를 태우고 김정호를 구금했습니다. 

               김정호는 지도를 그리되 직접 발로 다니면서 그리는 사람이었습니다.  당시에 조선은 정확하지 않은 지도를 가지고 있어서 전쟁을 하면서도 제대로 된 군사작전을 펼 수가 없었습니다.  영화에서 소년 김정호는 잘못된 지도 때문에 아버지를 잃게 됩니다.  그래서 그는 어려서부터 ‘사람을 살리는 지도’에 자신의 삶을 헌신하기로 결정합니다.  그는 저 북녘 백두산에서부터 남녘 한라산에 이르기까지 전국을 걷고 또 걸으며 직접 실측하여 지도를 완성합니다.  그가 걸었던 모든 길이 지도에서의 길이 되고, 그가 보았던 모든 산과 강이 지도 안으로 들어왔습니다.  지금처럼 비율을 측정하고 축소하여 만드는 과학적인 방식이 아닌 한 개인이 자신의 발로 걷고 뛴 실재의 경험을 통해서 현대지도와 비슷하게 정확한 지도를 만들었다는 것이 참으로 놀랍습니다.

1. 바울의 여정

               저는 그 영화를 보면서 한 사람이 생각났습니다.  김정호보다 어쩌면 더 많은 여행을 하고 더 넓은 곳을 다녔던 사람이 있습니다.  그는 때로는 혼자, 때로는 자신과 사명을 같이 하는 선교팀과 함께 지중해 근방의 대부분의 나라를 방문하고 복음을 전했습니다.  그의 이름을 바울입니다.  그가 발로 밟은 모든 곳에는 복음의 씨가 뿌리내렸고, 꽃이 피었고, 열매를 맺었습니다.  오늘 본문을 보면 그는 이제 자신의 전도의 여정을 끝내려고 하는 것 같습니다.  마지막 발걸음을 준비하고 있습니다.  그가 예루살렘으로 향하고 있기 때문입니다.

               이 부분에서 사도행전의 기록은 재미있습니다.  먼저 하나님은 사도 바울에게 예루살렘에 가서 복음을 전할 마음을 주셨습니다.  그는 그 마음에 순종하여 예루살렘을 향해 길을 가고 있습니다.  자, 바울이 예루살렘으로 들어가면 어떤 일이 있을까요?  그를 환영할까요?  그가 순조롭게 복음을 전할 수 있을까요?  모든 사람이 예상하는 것은 No!입니다.  사도 바울이 복음을 전했던 모든 지역에서 유대인들은 핍박하고 방해했습니다.  특히 유대인이면서 예수 그리스도의 복음을 받아들였다는 사람들은 더욱 그랬습니다.  십자가의 복음으로는 구원을 얻을 수 없고, 유대의 율법과 전통을 지켜야 한다는 주장이었습니다.  그들은 바울을 따라다니면서 선교를 막으려했습니다.  그러나 그들은 바울과 함께 하시는 성령의 역사를 막을 수 없었습니다.  모든 선교지에서 복음은 역동했고 교회는 성장했습니다.  바울이 이제 예루살렘으로 들어갑니다.  원수의 소굴로 들어가는 것과 같습니다.  당연히 그들은 바울은 핍박할 것입니다.  이렇게 분명하고 쉬운 예상이 어디 있을까요?  에베소 교회를 비롯한 많은 교회의 성도들이 바울을 만류하는 것은 지극히 상식적입니다.  뿐만 아니라 하나님은 계시를 보여주십니다.  성령의 감동을 받아서 장차 어떤 일이 있을지를 예언하는 사람들이 있었습니다.  분명하고 명백하게 바울이 잡히고 감옥에 갇히게 된다는 것입니다.  바울은 자신을 눈물로 말리는 성도들에게 이렇게 말합니다.

“보라 이제 나는 성령에 매여 예루살렘으로 가는데 거기서 무슨 일을 당할는지 알지 못하노라 오직 성령이 각 성에서 내게 증언하여 결박과 환난이 나를 기다린다 하시나 내가 달려갈 길과 주 예수께 받은 사명 곧 하나님의 은혜의 복음을 증언하는 일을 마치려 함에는 나의 생명조차 조금도 귀한 것으로 여기지 아니하노라“(행 20:22-24)

2. 내가 달려갈 길

               바울은 여기서 ‘내가 달려갈 길’이라는 표현을 씁니다.  그의 인생의 여정이면서 그의 발자국이 찍히는 모든 길입니다.  그 길은 ‘주 예수께 받은 사명 곧 하나님의 은혜의 복음을 증언하는 일’입니다.  즉 바울은 자신이 달려갈 길과 복음을 전하는 일을 같은 일로 보고 있습니다.  자신이 십자가의 은혜를 만난 후 자신이 살아가는 삶과 십자가를 증거하는 일이 하나가 된 것입니다.  바울이 걸어가는 길, 그 발자국을 따라가면... 시간을 따라 찍힌 발자국들을 한 번에 보면 그것은 1, 2, 3차 전도여행의 여정입니다.  단순한 전도 여행이 아닙니다.  가는 곳곳마다 핍박과 환란이 따랐습니다.  그는 고린도교회에 보내는 두 번째 편지에서 자신이 당했던 고난을 이렇게 요약합니다.  “내가 수고를 넘치도록 하고 옥에 갇히기도 더 많이 하고 매도 수없이 맞고 여러 번 죽을 뻔하였으니 유대인들에게 사십에서 하나 감한 매를 다섯 번 맞았으며 세 번 태장으로 맞고 한 번 돌로 맞고 세 번 파선하고 일 주야를 깊은 바다에서 지냈으며 여러 번 여행하면서 강의 위험과 강도의 위험과 동족의 위험과 이방인의 위험과 시내의 위험과 광야의 위험과 바다의 위험과 거짓 형제 중의 위험을 당하고 또 수고하며 애쓰고 여러 번 자지 못하고 주리며 목마르고 여러 번 굶고 춥고 헐벗었노라”(고후 11:23-27)  바울은 그를 때린 사람들이 죽은 줄로 알고 성 밖에 버린 적도 있습니다.  오랜 선교의 여정에서 ‘여러 번 죽을 뻔 했다’고 고백하는 이유가 여기에 있습니다.  40에 하나 감한 매라는 것은 로마의 법이 40대 이상을 치지 못하도록 했기 때문인데... 그것을 몇 번 맞았다고 했습니까?  다섯 번입니다.  세 번이고, 한번은 돌로 맞았고, 배가 파선한 일은 세 번이나 있었습니다. 

               정리를 해보면, 사도 바울은 A.D. 34년경에 회심했습니다.  그때부터 그는 이전과 다른 삶을 살기 시작했습니다.  조금 전에 소개한 고린도후서는 3차 전도 여행 중에 마게도냐에서 기록했는데, A.D. 55년 경입니다.  예수를 믿고 약 20년 간 그가 당한 고난과 핍박을 그렇게 요약한 것입니다.  그것으로 끝났을까요?  아닙니다.  오늘 읽은 사도행전 본문에서 그가 교회의 만류에도 불구하고 예루살렘으로 들어가는 것은 A.D.57년경이고, A.D.58년에는 로마의 감옥에 갇히고 A.D.67년에 순교합니다.  그는 고린도후서 11장의 자신이 당한 20년간의 고난을 소개한 후에도 10년 이상 더 격심한 고난과 핍박의 삶을 살았습니다.         

3. 성령이 보이시는 뜻

               여러분은 바울의 삶에 동의가 되십니까?  예수를 믿고 난 다음 그의 삶은 이전과는 전혀 다른 삶으로 변화되었습니다.  이전에는 안정된 학자이자 종교인의 삶이었습니다.  예수를 만나고 난 다음 그의 삶은 고난과 핍박이 계속됩니다.  정처 없이 떠돕니다.  마지막은 로마의 감옥이요, 더 마지막은 순교입니다.  다시 묻습니다.  여러분은 그의 삶에 동의가 되십니까?  

               오늘 사도행전 본문에서 바울은 교회의 지도자들에게 아주 중요한 메시지를 전달하고 있습니다.  본문을 다시 한번 봅시다.

“보라 이제 나는 성령에 매여 예루살렘으로 가는데 거기서 무슨 일을 당할는지 알지 못하노라

오직 성령이 각 성에서 내게 증언하여 결박과 환난이 나를 기다린다 하시나 내가 달려갈 길과 주 예수께 받은 사명 곧 하나님의 은혜의 복음을 증언하는 일을 마치려 함에는 나의 생명조차 조금도 귀한 것으로 여기지 아니하노라“(행 20:22-24)

               나는 성령에 매여 예루살렘으로 들어간다... 그런데 성령이 증언하기를 예루살렘에는 결박과 환난이 기다린다고 한다.... 여러분! 하나님은 뜻은 무엇일까요?  왜 바울에게 예루살렘으로 가라고 말씀하시고, 또 그곳에는 결박과 환난이 기다린다고 말씀하실까요?

               먼저 그것은 하나님께서 성도와 교회를 구원하시고 부르신 목적이 편하고 안락한 삶에 있는 것이 아니라는 것을 보여줍니다.  그렇다면 성도가 고난 받는 것이 하나님의 뜻일까요?  그것도 아닙니다.  하나님의 뜻은 편안함이나 성공, 혹은 슬픔이나 고난 자체에 있는 것이 아니라 그 어떤 상황 속에서도 성도와 교회가 하나님의 뜻을 따라 사는데 있습니다.  성령 하나님께서 바울에게 예루살렘으로 가라 말씀하시고, 고난을 말씀하시는 것은 그 속에서도 받은 사명을 따라 복음을 전하는 삶을 사는 일을 포기하지 말라는 뜻입니다.  그래서 바울은 성령이 보여주신 두 계시 앞에서 이렇게 결단합니다.  “내가 달려갈 길과 주 예수께 받은 사명 곧 하나님의 은혜의 복음을 증언하는 일을 마치려 함에는 나의 생명조차 조금도 귀한 것으로 여기지 아니하노라”  

4. 십자가, 성도의 삶의 지도

               요즘 기술이 발달하다보니 축구 경기를 마치면 한 선수가 얼마나 많이 뛰었는지, 어떤 포지션을 성실하게 잘 수행했는지를 보여주는 그림을 보여줍니다.  예를 들면 이렇습니다.  지난 2009년 11월에 한국과 호주가 경기를 했을 때 박지성 선수의 활동 반경입니다.(사진 4 박지성 활동지도) 박지성 선수가 한 경기에서 움직였던 양을 선으로 표시하면 저렇게 된다는 겁니다.  전체 운동장을 사용해서 11.4km를 뛰어서 가장 열심히 뛴 선수로 드러났습니다.  이런 움직임을 더 자세하게 분석한 그림이 있습니다.  한 때 일본과 한국을 대표했던 박지성 선수와 혼다 선수의 활동을 보여주는 그림이 있습니다.(사진 5 박지성과 혼다)  잘 보시면 두 선수의 성향의 차이를 이해할 수 있습니다.  누가 더 공격적일까요?  혼다입니다.  누가 중앙 공격수로 적합할까요?  혼다입니다.  박지성 선수는 수비형 윙어였습니다.  움직인 그림을 분석하면 그 선수의 특징을 파악할 수 있습니다.  그래서 어느 축구 전문 기자가 이 두 사진을 분석하면서 이렇게 기사를 썼습니다.  “관찰 없으면 통찰도 없다.  전략, 지도에서 길을 찾다.” 

               예수님은 자신을 제자들에게 소개하시기를 나는 길이요 진리요 생명이라고 했습니다.  그리고 자신은 십자가의 길을 걸어가셨습니다.  예수님은 스스로 길이신데, 걸어가신 길은 십자가의 길입니다.  즉 예수님의 삶의 발걸음을 기록하고 분석하면 그 길에서 우리는 십자가를 발견할 수 있다는 말입니다.  예수님의 삶은 그래서 십자가로 형상화되고 요약됩니다.  저는 바울의 삶 또한 그렇다고 생각합니다.  예수님께서 하나님의 뜻을 따라 이 땅에 내려오시지만 그 뜻을 따라 준비된 길이 십자가임을 아셨습니다.  모르고 받아들인 길이 아니라 하나님의 인도하심 가운데 선택하신 길이었습니다.  예수님은 예루살렘으로 들어가면 십자가가 기다린다는 것을 알았지만, 그래서 제자들이 소리 높여 말렸지만 결국 예루살렘으로 들어가시고, 성전으로 가시고, 골고다 언덕을 오르셨습니다.  바울 또한 그렇습니다.  성령이 보여주신 두 가지, 예루살렘으로 가야하고 그곳에는 결박과 환난이 기다린다는 것을 알고도 그 길을 갑니다.  십자가의 은혜를 깨달았기 때문에, 예수님께서 보여주신 그 길을 걸아야 한다는 것을 알았기 때문에, 자신 또한 그 인생의 여정에서 오직 십자가만을 드러내기를 원했기 때문입니다.  그래서 바울의 삶을 그리면, 예수님처럼, 십자가만 남습니다.  자신의 생명조차 내려놓고 오직 십자가만 드러냅니다.

               저는 오늘 말씀을 시작하면서 김정호라는 한 사람이 그의 발과 열정으로 그려낸 대동여지도를 여러분께 보여드렸습니다.  그는 발로, 그리고 지도에 대한 열정으로 지도를 제작했고, 그것은 그의 삶이었습니다.  우리의 과거와 현재와 미래를 동시적으로 보시는 하나님께서 우리 인생의 발걸음을 지도로 그린다면 무슨 모양이 나올까요?  무엇이 보일까요?  하나님은 우리에게 무엇을 말씀하셨고, 우리는 어떤 삶을 살고 있는 것일까요?  내 인생의 모든 여정을 통찰했더니 비겁하고 이기적인 눈빛 번득이는 괴물이 나타나는 것은 아닐까?  거짓되고 연약한 얼굴로 숨어 있는 것은 아닐까?  나태하고 무력한 모습으로 그저 하루하루 살고 있는 것은 아닐까?  고민하고 또 고민합니다.  한 사람의 삶의 여정, 고민하고 기도하고 선택하고 살아가는 모든 발걸음은 우리에게는 과거와 현재와 미래에 속하지만 하나님은 그 모든 과정을 한 눈에 보십니다.  하나님은 시간을 통찰하는 분이시고, 마치 박지성의 활동을 분석하는 것처럼, 김정호의 삶이 대동여지도인 것처럼, 예수님의 삶이 십자가인 것처럼, 사도 바울의 삶이 십자가의 모양인 것처럼... 우리의 삶의 지도를 보실 것입니다.  우리는 어떤 지도를 만들고 있습니까?  우리의 발걸음을 따라 만드는 지도는... 십자가의 형상을 닮아 있습니까?

Bible Script: ACTS 20:22-24

Title: Missionary Church - 10. Life Map

Recently, I watched a movie called 'The High Mountain DaeDong YuhJi'. This movie was released in Autumn of 2016, it is a biography of  Kim Jung Ho in the 1800s. Do you know who he is? If you are hesitant, lets take a look at this map. This map is called DaeDong YuhJi. Kim Jung Ho is the author of this map.  This film was made by adapting the novel by the novelist Park Bum Shin. There are many historical views about Kim Jung Ho, but I would like to speak on the basis of novels and movies.

In 1861, Kim Jung Ho created an observational map that closely resembled the map of modern accumulation with individual commitment and effort. The characteristics of this map can be summarized into three broad categories. The first is accuracy. DaeDong YuhJi is a large map with a dimension, length of 6.7m by width of 3.8m. It is the largest national map produced in the Chosun Dynasty. It was precisely drawn including all the mountains and all the rivers of Korea. The second is that the map was divided into sections  and was able to fold them. You could either carry them folded or just take the section of the map that you need. The third is that the original map is made of wood. Anyone who needed the map was able to copy by imprinting. HeungSung DaeWon, who was in control of the regime at the time, judged that Kim Jung Ho's map had been leaked to the Qing Dynasty and the Japanese army and could jeopardize the country and therefore, burned the map and detained Kim Jung Ho.

Kim Jung Ho drew map by traveling in his feet. At that time, Chosun had a map that was not accurate, so we could not have a proper military operation while we were at war. In the movie as a childhood, Kim Jung Ho loses his father because of the wrong direction. So he decides to dedicate his life to "map of guidance to save people" as a childhood. He walked all over the country from Mt Baekdu in north to Mt Hall in south. All the roads he walked were the roads on the map, and all the mountains and rivers he saw were documented into the map. It is truly amazing that an individual made a precise map that is similar to our modern map through the experience of an individual actually walking and running through the country rather than a scientific way of measuring with instrument.

1.Paul's Journey

As I was watching the movie, one person came to my mind. This person probably traveled to more places and longer distance than Kim Jung Ho. He sometimes traveled alone, or with missionary team who shared same mission purpose, and preached the gospel around the countries in the Mediterranean.  His name is Paul. Everywhere he stepped on his feet, the seeds of the gospel were rooted, flowers bloomed, and fruits were planted. In today's script, it talks about him preparing to end his journey of evangelism. Because he is heading to Jerusalem.

The record of Acts in this section is very interesting. God gave the apostle Paul direction to go to Jerusalem to preach the gospel. He was obedient to God's direction and heads to Jerusalem. Now, what would happen if Paul entered Jerusalem? Will he be welcomed? Will he be able to convey the gospel with no trouble? Everyone expects No! In every area where the apostle Paul preached the gospel, the Jews persecuted and interfered. Especially those who were Jews and accepted the gospel of Jesus Christ. It was claimed that the gospel of the cross could not save salvation and that it preserved the Jewish law and their tradition. They followed Paul and tried to stop him from missionary. But they could not stop the work of the Holy Spirit with Paul. In every missionary, the gospel was dynamic and the church grew. Paul is now entering Jerusalem. It's like going into the enemy's den. Of course they would persecute Paul. Isn't this a clear and obvious prediction? It is very common sense that the congregation of many churches, including the Ephesus church, withdraw Paul. In addition, God shows revelation. There were people who were inspired by the Holy Spirit and prophesied what would happen. That clearly and definitely,  Paul will be caught and imprisoned. Paul tells this to the congregation who were wiping their tears.

     "And no, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there. I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me. However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me - the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace" Acts 20: 22-24

2. My Path of Race

Paul uses the phrase 'the path I will race'. It is the journey of his life and all the paths his footprints are taken. That race, is a testimony of the missionary of the Lord Jesus, the gospel of God's grace. In other words, Paul sees his path of race and to preach the gospel is the same missionary. After he met the grace of the Cross, he became one of the witnesses of his life and the Cross. If you follow Paul's footsteps, the footprints.....it's the journey of his 1st, 2nd, 3rd missionary trip. It is not a simple evangelistic journey. Persecution and tribulation followed in every place. He summarizes the sufferings he had suffered in his second letter to the Corinthian Church.

     "I have worked much harder, been in prison more frequently, been flogged more severely, and been exposed to death again and again. Five times I received from the Jews the forty lashes minus one. Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned, three times I was shipwrecked, I spent a night and a day in the open sea, I have been constantly on the move. I have been in danger from rivers, in danger from bandits, in danger from Gentiles; in danger in the city, in danger in the country, in danger at sea; and in danger from false brothers. I have labored and toiled and have often gone without sleep; I have known hunger and thirst and have often gone without food; I have been cold and naked." (2 Corinthians 11: 23-27)

Paul was left outside the city by the people who beaten him thinking he was dead. This is why he confess that he was almost killed many times in his missionary journey. The law of Rome did not strike more than 40 generations.... How many times does he mention beaten-ed? It is five times. Three times beaten, once stoned, and three times his ship was wrecked.

In summary, the apostle Paul converted around year 34 AD.  From then on he began to live a different life than before. The 2 Corinthian passage I just mentioned was recorded in Macedonia during the third evangelistic journey, around year 55 AD. After accepting Jesus, it is a summary of his suffering and persecution for about twenty years. Did it end there? No. In the script of Acts that we read earlier, he entered Jerusalem in spite of the church's ascendancy around year 57 AD, in year 58 AD, he was imprisoned in Rome and martyred in year 67 AD. He lived a life of hardship and persecution that was more than ten years after his twenty years of suffering mentioned in 2 Corinthians chapter 11.

3. What does the Holy Spirit show?

Do you agree with Paul's life? After believing in Jesus, his life was transformed into a completely different life. Previously, it was a stable scholar and religious life. After meeting Jesus, his life continues to suffer and persecute. It floats without judgment. The last is the imprison in Rome, even more so, is martyrdom. I will ask again, do you agree with his life?

In today's script, the book of Acts, Paul delivers a very important message to the leaders of the Church. Lets look at the script again.

     "And now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there. I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me. However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me - the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace." (Acts 20: 22-24)

I am bound to the Holy Spirit and go to Jerusalem... however, the Holy Spirit testifies that in Jerusalem, the punishment and tribulation awaits...What does God mean? Why was Paul told to go to Jerusalem, and that there are punishments and tribulations waiting for him?

First it shows that God wants church congregation to know that salvation and purpose of saving is not a simple and comfortable life. Then, is congregations suffering is God's will? Not that either. God's will is not in comfort, in success, or in sorrow or suffering itself, but in all circumstances the congregations and the church live according to God's will. The Holy Spirit tells Paul to go to Jerusalem and says that suffering does not mean that you should not give up living a life of preaching the gospel according to the mission you have received in it. So Paul makes this decision in front of the two revelations of the Holy Spirit. "However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me - the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace."

4. The life of Cross,map of Congregation

Nowadays, as the technology develops, it shows a figure that shows how much a soccer player has played and which position he/she has performed sincerely. For example: this is the diameter of activity of Korean soccer player Park Ji Sung played in a game against Australia in November of 2009.  (see slide) It shows the line of how the player Park Ji Sung played in a game. It has turned out to be the hardest player to run the entire track of 11.4km. There is more detailed picture showing more description. It shows how the players, Park Ji Sung, representing Korea and Honda representing Japan, played and their movements. (Photo of Park Ji Sung and Honda) If you look closely, you can understand the difference between the two players. Who is more aggressive? That is Honda. Who would be a centered offense? It's Honda. Park Ji Sung was a defensive winder. By analyzing the picture, you can understand the characteristics of the player. So, there was a soccer reporter who wrote this article analyzing these two pictures and wrote. "Without observation, there is no insight. Strategy, find the path from the map"

Jesus introduced himself to his disciples that 'I was the way, the truth, and the life.' And he walked the path of the cross. Jesus is the way to himself, but he walked the path of the cross. That is, we recognize and analyze steps to Jesus' life and in that path, we can find the Cross.  The life of Jesus is thus shaped and summed up as a Cross. I think Paul's life is the same. Jesus came down to the earth according to the will of God, but he knew planned path of life was the path of Cross. It was not accepted with not knowing, but chose among God's guidance. When Jesus entered Jerusalem, he knew that the cross was waiting, and his disciples tried to stop him from entering, but eventually, he entered Jerusalem, went to the temple, and climbed the hills of Golgotha. It is also Paul. Two things the Holy Spirit has shown him, must enter Jerusalem knowing that there are punishments and tribulations awaits him, he enters. But because he realized the grace of the Cross and he knew that Jesus showed him the path and he wanted to reveal the cross was the journey of his life. So if you picture Paul's life, just like Jesus, you see the cross. He puts down his life and reveals only the cross.

I started sermon today with showing a picture of a map, a map that expresses one man's, Park Jung Ho, passion.  With his feet, and his passion for the map, he completed the map, and that was his life. What would your map of your life look like if God, who sees our past, present and future showed you your map? What would you see? What did God say to us, and what kind of life do we live in? Your life, is the journey full of selfishness? full of lies and innocent look? living everyday life of laziness and helpless? I worry and worry again. Every step of a person's life, anxious, praying, choosing, and living, belongs to us in past, present and future, but God sees all the processes. As God is an insight of time, as if analyzing the activity of Park Ji Sung, as if life of Kim Jung Ho is DaeDong Yuh ji, as if the life of Jesus is a cross, as if the apostle Paul's like was the shape of the cross.... he will see your map of life. What map do we make? The map that follows our steps...does it resemble the image of the cross?
