Do you know what “Dong Sang E Mong” means? It is to sleep on the same bed, but to have two different dreams. It means people have different thoughts even in the same situation. It means people may be physically together, but their hearts may belong to different places. I have a lot of interest in the summit between US and North Korea next week. I am wondering if it will be a situation of “Dong Sang E Mong” or it will be an agreement between the two nations that will lead to good results. I really hope that even though the two nations may differ in what they wish, they will discuss and compromise to end the hostility toward one another.

 

I want to have a second sermon continuing the story of “Mr. Average Believer.” Last week’s sermon was to inspire you. Starting today, I want to discuss about more specific topics and find answers together. I want to think about the “interest” of average believers in everyday life. What do you think about when you are alone and daydreaming? What topic and what stories do you think about? What topic do you spend most emotions and energy to think about? What are your interests? How do you use your life to fulfill that interest? The most important question is, how deeply is your interest related to your faith?

 

Perhaps it was difficult for the disciples to follow Jesus. Think about the events surrounding Jesus. The interests of the disciples are different from that of Jesus. It is clearly shown in today’s passage about the Canaanite woman. Let’s take a look at the difference between the interests of the disciples and Jesus, as well as the interest of our own.

 

1. Holy Interest

 

I found an interestingly titled sermon while I was preparing this sermon. It was a morning prayer sermon preached by a Catholic Father. The tile of the sermon was, “Holy Interest.” It was a short sermon with a length of about 7 or 8 minutes. I could not completely understand what he exactly meant by the holy interest. Nonetheless, I thought it was a very good title. What kind of interest would be considered holy? On the other hand, what kind of interest would be considered not so holy?

 

According to the Scripture, the word “holy” does not apply to God’s creation. It only applies to God himself.

 

“But the Lord Almighty will be exalted by his justice, and the holy God will be proved holy by his righteous acts.” (Isaiah 5:16)

 

All of God’s creation in the world are just the reflection of God’s holiness. Because God is holy, the people of God can be holy; the temple that God dwells can be holy; the clothes of priest giving offerings to God can be holy. Mount Zion can be holy because God comes down to it. The beginning and end of holy only belongs to God.

 

Then, what would be the “holy interest?” Of course, it would be the interest of God. It is God’s interest for this world. God’s heart and the direction of His thoughts – that is the holy interest of God.

 

2. Interest of Jesus

 

Today’s passage tells us that Jesus entered the region of Tyre and Sidon. If you take a look at the map, the region is to the north of Jerusalem, Samaria, and Galilee. The region was prosperous due to trade and fishing on Mediterranean Sea. Do you ever wonder why Jesus went to such place? It is not the land of Juda. Jesus mainly preached in Galilee and Jerusalem. It is unusual that he went to this region. Why did he go there?

 

The passage does not clearly tell us the reason. However, we may understand his purpose through his words to the disciples. The interest of Jesus was clearly stated in John 10:15-16. From that, we can understand the purpose of his traveling to Tyre and Sidon.

 

“just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep.” (John 10:15)

 

What is Jesus interested in? He is interested in the “sheep.” He is so interested to even lay down his life. We spend time, money, and heart for things that we are interested in. Jesus is willing to lay down his life for his most interest; for the sheep. He speaks in a serious tone in verse 16.

 

“I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.” (John 10:16)

 

When Jesus talked about “sheep” in verse 15, the disciples thought Jesus was talking about the Jews. Jesus knew what the disciples were thinking. That is why Jesus spoke again about what the disciples were misunderstanding. He is saying, “Of course, I am interested in the lost sheep, the Jews. However, I also have much interest on other sheep who are not Jews. They are also the ones that I must feed.” Who are those sheep? Jesus is talking about the Gentiles. Jesus is proclaiming that even those who were neglected are part of his love, grace, and salvation. It goes over the wall of Israel to reach them.

 

3. Please Pay Attention to Me

 

How is this passage in John related to today’s passage? It was the question of the disciples. They were asking, “Why is Jesus going into the region of Gentiles? What is he doing here?” When disciples were starting to question, they encountered an important event for the whole world.

 

“Leaving that place, Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon. A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is demon-possessed and suffering terribly.”” (Matthew 15:21-22)

 

A Gentile woman, a Canaanite woman is crying to Jesus, “Please pay attention to me and my daughter Jesus the son of David. My daughter is suffering. She is possessed.” She was calling Jesus the son of David because she knew she was a mere Gentile to Jesus. She expected Jesus to decline her request. Although she thought so, she still cried out. Why? Because there was no hope besides Jesus. She heard the stories of miracles of Jesus in Galilee. She thought that something could happen if she cried out to Jesus. Can she succeed and get what she wished for?

 

“Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, “Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us.” He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.”” (John 23-24)

 

Jesus did not answer to the woman’s cry. The disciples knew she was a gentile woman too. They asked Jesus to send her away. Then, Jesus answers in a way that is not like him. He is saying that he came for Israel, not for you or your daughter who are Gentiles.

 

The woman was expecting something like this. She cried out one more time and was refused even worse.

 

“The woman came and knelt before him. “Lord, help me!” she said. He replied, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.”” (John 15:25-26)

 

This is very different from how Jesus normally is toward the weak. There must be a reason why he is this way. What is the purpose of such harsh statements from Jesus?

 

The woman and Jesus talk for the third time.

 

““Yes it is, Lord,” she said. “Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.” Then Jesus said to her, “Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted.” And her daughter was healed at that moment.” (John 15:27-28)

 

Jesus returns to Galilee after this conversation. We can find out why Jesus went to the region of Tyre and Sidon from this. It was to meet this woman. It was to speak the words of Gospel to her. He spoke about the salvation only through faith. Jesus declared the Gospel of Salvation can be reached by believing in Jesus Christ over any obstacles or difficulties and even when it is hard to live by faith.

 

I said the event in today’s passage is a very important one for the history of church. It was through this Gentile woman that everyone in this world was given the way of salvation. Jesus proclaim that anyone can be saved by believing in Jesus. It is not by being a Israelite or by following the Law. The woman who cried out even though she thought she was going to be rejected, the woman who continued to cry out even after being refused showed us how Jesus will have everyone. When people thought that the Gospel was for themselves, Jesus went to those sheep outside the pan and proclaimed the salvation for them.

 

4. The Interest of Jesus, A Holy Interest

 

Same interest of Jesus shown to a Canaanite woman in the region of Tyre and Sidon 2,000 years ago has crossed the ages and shining on us too. You, me, and church is Christ’s biggest and most important interest. It is a very holy interest. How is Christ’s interest for us described? In John 10:15 it says, “… I lay down my life for the sheep.” Jesus who loved you and me served us with his life on the cross.

 

Jesus is asking us. What kind of interest do we have? What do we pay our attention to? What do you spend your time on? Where does your heart belong to? The interest of Jesus toward us is holy. Is your interest holy as well? Are your hearts and thoughts holy? Is your interest similar to that of Jesus? Does your interest point to the same direction as that of Jesus?

 

Unfortunately, the disciples did not understand what Jesus was thinking. Their interest was different from that of Jesus. It was not because they did not believe in Jesus. It was not because they did not know how to serve. They were not drifting away from Jesus either. Jesus went to the region of Tyre and Sidon to meet with the woman who were not inside the pan. However, the disciples are asking Jesus to send her away. Was that the only time they were like this? When Jesus was speaking about the cross, the disciples were arguing who will be higher in Heaven. When Jesus wanted to feed the crowd, the disciples were counting money in their wallet. When Jesus was speaking about the Kingdom of God, they wanted to have glory of the world. When Jesus blessed the woman who used the myrrh before his death, the disciples complained that she was wasting the expensive myrrh.

 

During the Last Supper, they were constantly asking who is loved the most, who is the best, who will have the high seat in Heaven, who will have what, and so on. The disciples were not interested in what Jesus was interested in. They wanted to use the power of Jesus in fulfilling their interest. Until Jesus left them, they did not enter the holy interest of Jesus. We must work hard to realize whether we are having the same interest as Jesus. You must question yourself whether your faith have different interest and purpose than the Holy Spirit.

 

In order for your life to change, your interests must change. Peter was not part of the interest of Jesus until Jesus was crucified. Even after Jesus was resurrected, he still was not part of the interest of Jesus. Still, he grew and changed in Holy Spirit. He became the bedrock of the first generation church and served the believers. God spoke through Peter in 1 Peter 1:15, “But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do.” In other words, as holy Jesus who has called us, we too must become holy in all our interests. Our interests must be in Christ’s interest, his sacrifice, heart, and tears. I pray that we will live according to our Lord’s holy heart and interest.

‘동상이몽’(同床異夢)이라는 말의 뜻을 아십니까? 같은 침상에서 잠을 자도 다른 꿈을 꾼다는 말입니다. 같은 상황 속에 있어도 생각이 다르다는 말이고, 함께 머리를 맞대고 있지만 관심은 각각 다른 곳에 있다는 말입니다. 저는 이번 주에 있을 북미 혹은 남북미 간의 정상회담이 동상이몽이 될 것인지, 아니면 같은 꿈에 동의하고 좋은 의논의 과정을 만들 수 있을 것인지 관심이 많습니다. 혹 다른 꿈을 꾼다고 하더라도 서로를 해치지 않는, 토론과 합의가 가능한 꿈들이기를 간절히 바랍니다.

 

오늘은 ‘성도 보통씨의 하루’라는 제목으로 두 번째 말씀을 나누려고 합니다. 지난 주의 말씀이 여러분의 마음에 문제의식을 불러일으키는 것이 목적이었다면 이번 주부터는 좀 더 구체적인 주제에 대해 접근하고 답을 함께 찾으려고 합니다. 이번 주 성도 보통씨가 고민할 주제는 우리들이 가진 일상의 ‘관심사’입니다. 여러분은 혼자 있을 때, 혹은 나도 모르는 사이에 공상에 빠져 있을 때 어떤 주제, 어떤 내용으로 고민하고 생각하고 혼자 말을 하십니까? 내 감정의 에너지와 생각하는 시간의 양을 가장 많이 사용하는 주제는 무엇입니까? 나는 어떤 일에 주로 관심이 있고 나의 삶을 사용해서 그 관심을 실현합니까? 중요한 것은.... 그 관심은 우리의 신앙과 얼마나 깊은 관계가 있습니까?

 

예수님의 제자들은 아마도 예수님을 따르는 것이 좀 힘들었을 수 있습니다. 복음서가 소개하는 예수님 주변의 사건들을 살펴보십시오. 그들이 가진 관심은 예수님의 관심과 너무 다릅니다. 오늘 본문이 소개하는 한 가나안 여인과 관련된 이야기에서도 이 차이는 뚜렷하게 드러납니다. 이 이야기를 따라서 제자들의 관심사와 예수님의 관심사의 차이, 그리고 우리들의 관심사는 어떠한지 한번 생각해 봅시다.

 

1. 거룩한 관심

 

말씀을 준비하면서 재미있는 설교 제목을 하나 발견했습니다. 한 7-8분 정도 되는 어느 신부님의 새벽기도 설교였습니다. 그 신부님은 자신의 강론의 제목을 ‘거룩한 관심’이라고 했더군요. 내용이 충분하지 않아서 무엇을 거룩한 관심으로 말하는지는 잘 이해하지 못했지만 ‘거룩한 관심’... 참 좋은 제목이라는 생각을 했습니다. 거룩한 관심이라... 어떤 관심이 거룩하다 말할 수 있을까요? 혹은 거룩하지 않은 관심은 어떤 것일까요?

 

사실 ‘거룩’이라는 말은 성경에서 피조물에게는 해당되지 않는 말입니다. 오직 하나님께만 적용될 뿐입니다. “오직 만군의 여호와는 정의로우시므로 높임을 받으시며 거룩하신 하나님은 공의로우시므로 거룩하다 일컬음을 받으시리니”(사 5:16) 세상 모든 만물은 하나님의 거룩하심에 대한 반영일 뿐입니다. 하나님이 거룩하시기 때문에 하나님 안에 있는 하나님의 백성이 거룩해지고, 하나님이 임재하시는 성소가 거룩해지고, 하나님을 예배하는 제사장이 입는 옷이 거룩한 옷이 되고, 하나님이 임재하시는 산 시온이 거룩한 산이 됩니다. 거룩함의 시작과 끝은 오직 하나님께 있습니다.

 

그렇다면 ‘거룩한 관심’이란 어떤 관심입니까? 그것은 당연히 하나님의 관심입니다. 하나님이 이 세상에 대하여 품으신 관심입니다. 하나님의 마음과 생각의 방향 - 그것이 바로 하나님의 거룩한 관심입니다.

 

2. 예수님의 관심

 

오늘 본문에서 예수니은 제자들과 함께 두로와 시돈 지방으로 들어가셨다고 했습니다. 두로와 시돈... 어디일까요? 지도를 보실까요?(지도 1) 예루살렘보다 북쪽, 사마리아보다 북쪽, 갈릴리보다 북쪽... 지중해 바닷가의 해상무역과 어업으로 큰 번영을 이루었던 도시들입니다. 그런데 여러분, 이상하지 않습니까? 예수님은 왜 그곳으로 가셨을까요? 그곳은 유대땅이 아닙니다. 예수님의 전도의 주무대는 갈릴리였고, 또 예루살렘이지 않습니까? 예수님께서 이방땅으로 가신 일은 흔치 않은 일입니다. 왜 가신 것일까요?

 

오늘 본문이 그 이유를 분명하게 밝히고 있지 않습니다, 다만 우리는 복음서에서 제자들에게 주신 말씀을 통해서 예수님이 그곳으로 가신 목적을 이해할 수 있습니다. 요한복음 10장 15-16절에는 예수님의 관심사항이 정확하게 기록되어 있고 이 말씀을 통해서 마태복음 15장에서 예수님이 두로와 시돈으로 가신 목적을 알 수 있습니다. 먼저 요 10장 15절을 보실까요? “아버지께서 나를 아시고 내가 아버지를 아는 것 같으니 나는 양을 위하여 목숨을 버리노라”(요 10:15) 예수님의 관심은 어디에 있습니까? ‘양’입니다. 예수님의 목숨을 버릴 만큼 관심이 있습니다. 우리는 대부분 우리의 관심사항에 시간과 재물과 마음을 쏟지 않습니까? 예수님은 자신의 관심의 모든 것인 잃어버린 양들을 위해 자신의 목숨까지 버린다고 말씀하십니다. 그리고 16절에서 예수님은 아주 심각한 한 말씀을 하십니다. “또 이 우리에 들지 아니한 다른 양들이 내게 있어 내가 인도하여야 할 터이니 그들도 내 음성을 듣고 한 무리가 되어 한 목자에게 있으리라”(요 10:16) 15절에서 ‘양’이라고 할 때 이 말씀을 듣는 제자들은 모두 다 그 양이 ‘유대인’이라고 생각합니다. 예수님도 그것을 아십니다. 그래서 예수님은 제자들이 잘못이해하고 있는 예수님의 관심에 대해 다시 말씀하십니다. “물론 나는 잃어버린 양, 유대인들에게 관심이 있다. 하지만 나는 지금 유대인이라는 우리에 들지 않은 다른 양들에 대해서도 관심이 많단다. 그들도 내가 먹여야 할 양이다”라고 말씀하십니다. 그 양은 어떤 양일까요? 예, 예수님 당시의 이방인들을 말하는 겁니다. 오랫동안 복음에 소외되었던 나라와 백성들, 예수님의 사랑과 구원의 은혜는 이스라엘이라는 장벽을 넘어 모든 백성에게 향하고 있다는 선언을 하고 있습니다.

3. 나에게 관심을 주세요.

 

그렇다면 요한복음의 이 말씀이 오늘 본문의 말씀과 무슨 상관이 있습니까? 그것이 바로 제자들의 질문이었습니다. 예수님이 왜 이방인들의 마을로 들어가시는 거지? 여기서 뭐하시는 거지? 제자들의 마음에 의문이 자꾸 생길 때 쯤이었습니다. 그들은 세계 교회사에 아주 중요한 한 사건을 만나게 됩니다. 마태복음 15장 21-22절을 봅시다. “예수께서 거기서 나가사 두로와 시돈 지방으로 들어가시니 가나안 여자 하나가 그 지경에서 나와서 소리 질러 이르되 주 다윗의 자손이여 나를 불쌍히 여기소서 내 딸이 흉악하게 귀신 들렸나이다 하되”(마 15:21-22) 한 이방 여인, 가나안 태생의 여인이 나타나 예수님께 부르짖습니다. “주 다윗의 자손 예수님, 나와 내 딸에게 관심을 좀 가져주십시오. 이 딸, 정말 불쌍합니다. 흉악한 귀신이 들렸습니다.” 이 여인이 예수님은 다윗의 자손이라고 부르는 것은 자신이 예수님의 입장에서 볼 때 이방인이라는 것을 알고 있다는 말입니다. 이미 예수님의 거절을 예상하고 있습니다. 알면서도 부르짖습니다. 왜요? 예수님이 아니면 소망이 없기 때문입니다. 자신의 마을로 찾아오신 저 예수가 갈릴리에서 행했던 놀라운 이적과 가르침을 이미 소문으로 들었습니다. 저 예수에게 찾아가 부르짖으면 무엇인가 될 것 같습니다. 이 이방의 여인은 성공할 수 있을까요? 23-24절을 봅시다. “예수는 한 말씀도 대답하지 아니하시니 제자들이 와서 청하여 말하되 그 여자가 우리 뒤에서 소리를 지르오니 그를 보내소서 예수께서 대답하여 이르시되 나는 이스라엘 집의 잃어버린 양 외에는 다른 데로 보내심을 받지 아니하였노라 하시니”(마 15:23-24) 예수님은 여인의 부르짖음에 응답하지 않습니다. 제자들 또한 이 여인이 이방인이라는 것을 알고 있습니다. “선생님, 시끄러운데 돌려보냅시다.”라고 말을 합니다. 제자들의 말에 이은 예수님의 말씀은 우리의 상상을 뛰어넘습니다. 예수님답지 않은 말씀을 주십니다. “나는 이방인인 너와 네 딸이 아니라 오직 이스라엘을 위해 왔다”는 것입니다.

 

여인은 이 정도는 각오했었습니다. 여인은 다시 한번 부탁합니다. 그리고 더 처절한 거절을 당합니다. “여자가 와서 예수께 절하며 이르되 주여 저를 도우소서 대답하여 이르시되 자녀의 떡을 취하여 개들에게 던짐이 마땅하지 아니하니라”(마 15:25-26) 평소에 예수님의 연약한 사람들에 대한 태도와는 너무도 다른 모습 아닙니까? 사람이 평소와 다른 언행을 하면... 분명한 이유가 있는 것이지요. 예수님의 의도된 이 거친 언행의 이유는 무엇일까요?

 

여인과 예수님이 세 번째 대화합니다. “여자가 이르되 주여 옳소이다마는 개들도 제 주인의 상에서 떨어지는 부스러기를 먹나이다 하니 이에 예수께서 대답하여 이르시되 여자여 네 믿음이 크도다 네 소원대로 되리라 하시니 그 때로부터 그의 딸이 나으니라”(마 15:27-28)

 

재미있는 것은 예수님은 이 말씀을 하신 후에 29절을 보면 갈릴리로 돌아가신다는 사실입니다. 여기서 우리는 알 수 있습니다. 예수님이 두로와 시돈이라는 지역에 가신 이유는 무엇입니까? 바로 이 여인을 만나기 위해서입니다. 이 여인에게 구원의 복음을 전하기 위해 가셨습니다. 오직 믿음으로 얻는 구원을 말씀하셨습니다. 어떤 장벽과 거절이 있어도... 믿음으로 살기에 힘들고 어려운 일이 있어도... 오직 예수를 그리스도로 믿는 믿음이 있을 때 질병도, 세상의 힘도, 심지어 죽음도 넘어서고 승리할 수 있다는 구원의 복음을 선포하셨습니다.

 

저는 오늘 본문의 이 사건이 교회사적으로 아주 중요하다고 말씀드렸습니다. 이 여인을 통해서 우리들 모두에게 이방인을 향한 구원의 빛을 비춰 주셨기 때문입니다. 이스라엘이라는 형통이 아니어도, 율법이라는 증거가 아니어도.... 누구든지 예수를 믿는 믿음으로 얻는 구원을 선언하셨습니다. 딸이 귀신에 들려서 세상 그 어느 것에서도 소망을 찾지 못하는 여인... 거절당할 줄 알면서도 오직 예수님께 구원을 간구하는 여인, 거듭 거절당하면서도 간절한 소원으로 매달리는 여인... 예수님은 이 여인을 통해서 모든 민족을 구원하시고자 하는 예수님의 관심을 보여주셨습니다. 모든 사람들이, 제자들까지도 자신들의 우리만을 바라보고 있을 때... 복음은 오직 나만을 위한 것이요, 나를 유익하게 해야 하고, 우리들만을 향해야 한다고 생각할 때.... 예수님은 ‘우리 안에 들지 않은 양’들을 직접 찾아가셔서 그들의 구원을 선포하셨습니다.

4. 예수님과 같은 관심, 거룩한 관심

 

2000년 전 두로와 시돈에서 한 가나안 여인에게 쏟아진 예수님의 관심은 2000년이 지나 대륙을 지나고 바다는 건너고 나라를 넘고 문화를 넘어서 오늘 우리들에게까지 쏟아지고 있습니다. 여러분과 저는, 교회는 예수님의 가장 중요한 관심사입니다. 그 관심이 참으로 거룩합니다. 여러분과 저를 향한 예수님의 관심이 어떻게 표현되었습니까? 요 10:15에서 예수님은 “나는 양을 위하여 목숨을 버리노라”라고 말씀하셨습니다. 여러분과 저를 사랑하시는 예수님은 십자가에서 우리를 위해 생명으로 헌신하셨습니다.

 

그리고 예수님은 우리들에게 물으십니다. 예수님의 거룩한 관심의 대상이며, 그 관심으로 구원의 은혜를 입은 우리들은, 우리들의 마음에는 어떤 관심사가 자리잡고 있습니까? 우리의 일상을 주장하고, 우리의 빈 시간... 빈 마음... 흔들리는 감정의 주인인 우리의 관심사는 어디에 있습니까? 예수님의 우리를 향해 품은 관심이 거룩합니다. 우리의 마음에 자리 잡고 있는 관심 또한 거룩합니까? 우리의 마음과 생각은 거룩합니까? 우리의 관심은 예수님의 관심과 닮아 있습니까? 아니 같은 방향을 바라보고 있습니까?

 

오늘 본문을 보시면 안타깝게도 제자들은 예수님의 마음과 생각을 읽지 못합니다. 예수님의 관심과 그들의 관심은 다릅니다. 예수를 믿지 않아서가 아닙니다. 헌신할 줄 몰라서가 아닙니다. 예수님을 멀리 떠난 것도 아닙니다. 예수님은 우리에 들지 않은 양들에 대한 관심으로 두로와 시돈으로 가셔서 그 여인을 만나시는데, 제자들은 빨리 여인을 돌려보내고 갈릴리로 돌아가자고 조르고 있습니다. 어디 이때 뿐입니까? 예수님이 십자가를 이야기할 때 그들은 천국에서 누가 높은 지를 이야기했고, 예수님이 남자만 5000명이 넘는 군중을 보시고 불쌍히 여겨서 먹이고자 할 때 그들은 전대에 남은 돈을 세고 있었고, 예수님은 하나님의 나라를 이야기할 때 그들은 이 땅에서의 영광을 소망하고 있었고, 예수님이 향유 옥합을 깨뜨려서 예수님의 죽음을 준비하는 여인을 칭찬할 때 그들은 저것을 팔면 돈이 얼만데... 생각을 하고 있었습니다. 최후의 만찬을 나누면서도 혹 누가 나보다 더 많이 사랑받고 인정받는 제자는 없는지... 천국에서는 누가 더 높은지, 누가 어느 자리로 갈 건지... 내 자리는 어디쯤인지.... “예수님! 나는 어떻게 되고, 저 사람은 어떻게 되겠습니까?” 제자들은 끊임없이 묻고 또 물었습니다. 그들은 예수님의 관심에는 마음을 두지 않고 그들의 관심에 예수님의 능력을 사용하려 했습니다. 예수님이 그들을 떠나시기까지 그들은 예수님의 거룩한 관심의 삶으로 들어가지 못했습니다. 치열하게 고민해야 합니다. 이 복잡하고 어려운 시대에 우리는 주님과 같은 꿈을 꾸고 있는가? 교회라고 하는 같은 배를 타고서... 나는 성령 하나님과 다른 꿈과 목적으로 신앙생활을 하는 것은 아닌가...? 성령과의 동상이몽(同床異夢)인지 동상동몽(同床同夢)인지... 우리는 고민해야 합니다.

 

성도 여러분! 삶이 변화되려면 관심이 변화되어야 합니다. 베드로 사도는 예수님이 십자가에 달리시기까지, 심지어 부활하신 후에도 예수님의 관심에 동참하지 못했던 제자였습니다. 그가 성령 하나님의 은혜 가운데 변화하고 성장합니다. 초대교회의 반석이 되어 교회와 성도를 섬깁니다. 하나님은 베드로 사도를 통해서 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다. “오직 너희를 부르신 거룩한 이처럼 너희도 모든 행실에 거룩한 자가 되라”(벧전 1:15) 다른 말로 하면 우리를 부르신 거룩하신 예수님처럼 우리도 모든 관심에서 거룩한 사람이 되어야 합니다. 예수님의 관심, 예수님의 헌신, 예수님의 마음과 눈물.... 우리의 관심이 되어야 합니다. 우리 주님의 거룩한 마음과 관심으로 살게 하옵소서.... 우리 초대교회의 고백이기를 간절히 소망합니다.
