* 제 목 : 선교적 교회 - 38. 성도 보통씨의 김밥

‘이성미’라는 개그우먼이 있습니다. 허를 찌르는 재치있는 개그로 꽤 유명합니다. 얼마 전에 한 토크쇼에서 김밥에 얽힌 에피소드를 이야기했습니다. 코메디언 중에서 의외로 유년시절에 어려운 사람들이 많습니다. 이성미 또한 어려서부터 어머니의 자리가 비어있었고, 아버지의 질서 없는 삶으로 말미암아 고통을 겪었습니다. 중고등학교 시절부터 부모가 함께 있는 집이 아닌 혼자 기거하는 자취생활이 많았습니다. 중1-2학년 쯤 되었을 때였습니다. 한 친한 친구가 소풍을 준비하면서 ‘성미’의 딱한 사정에 동정이 갔습니다. “성미야, 내일 아침에 우리 집에 와. 내가 엄마한테 말해서 내 김밥을 쌀 때 네 김밥도 같이 싸라고 할께!” 성미는 너무 고마웠습니다. 흥분했다고 했습니다. 처음으로 소풍을 가면서 김밥을 먹게 되었습니다. 아침에 일찍 친구의 집으로 갔습니다. 친구의 어머니 또한 성미를 위한 김밥을 기꺼이 싸주겠다고 하셨습니다. 친구의 집 또한 방 한 칸에 부엌이 딸린 가난한 집이었습니다. 친구의 어머니가 김밥을 싸시고, 두 친구는 도란도란 소풍을 이야기하면서 즐겁게 기다리고 있었습니다. 친구의 어머니에게서 그리운 ‘엄마’를 느끼고 있었습니다. 그때 친구의 아버지가 출근을 하면서 그 모습을 봤습니다. 뭐하고 있는 거냐고 물었습니다. 친구가 조심스럽게 성미를 소개하고, 오늘 소풍을 가는데 친구 김밥도 같이 싸고 있다고 말했습니다. 친구의 아버지는 크게 화를 냈습니다. 김밥을 싸고 있는 어머니의 머리채를 잡았습니다. “이 미친 X이, 우리 먹을 것도 없는데... 왜 저런 쓸데없는 X 김밥까지 싸줘!” 싸고 있는 김밥이 공중에 날아갔고, 성미는 그 자리를 뛰쳐나왔습니다. 그 이후에 개그우먼 이성미는 단 한 번도 김밥을 먹지 않았습니다. 김밥에 대해 이야기하면서 다른 사람을 웃기는 직업인 개그우먼 이성미의 목소리가 물기에 젖었습니다.

친구의 아버지도 이해가 되지 않는 것은 아닙니다. 정말 어렵고 힘든 삶을 살았을 것입니다. 세상에 나가서 돈을 벌기 위해 칼날보다 예리한 관계들을 헤쳐 나가야 할 겁니다. 자신의 몸을 팔고 노동을 팔아서 가족을 부양하고 있었을 겁니다. 다른 사람을 돕는 작은 여유도 발휘할 수 없는 각박하고 차가운 삶이 반복되고 있었을 겁니다. 자신의 힘든 마음과 분노를 어디엔가 터뜨리고 싶었을 겁니다. 그리고 가족들에게, 한 소녀의 가슴에 지울 수 없는 큰 상처를 남겼습니다. 아마도 그 아버지는 그렇게 자신의 마음에 있는 응어리를 풀어버리고 출근했을 것입니다. 다시 칼날 같은 찬 바람 부는 세상과 맞서서 가정을 부양하기 위해 최선을 다하는 삶을 살았을 것입니다. 그리고 아버지가 세상에서 경험했던 그 칼날은 소녀 성미의 마음에, 성미를 좋아했던 친구의 마음에, 딸의 친구를 동정했던 어머니의 마음에 깊이 꽂혔습니다.

1. 마땅히 할 일

우리는 흔히 성경 로마서를 바울신학이 가장 잘 정리된 성경이라고 말합니다. ‘오직 믿음으로 말미암는 구원’이라는 주제를 한 번도 만나지 않았지만 마음에 품고 사랑하는 로마 교회의 성도들에게 전하고 있습니다. 하지만 이 성경은 신학만을 말하는 차가운 성경이 아닙니다. 신학은 사람에게 하나님을 가장 쉽게 설명하는 과정입니다. 하나님을 설명하는 가장 좋은 단어는 무엇일까요? 예수 그리스도이며 십자가이며, 곧 사랑입니다. 로마서는 세상을 향한 하나님의 사랑이 가장 잘 표현된 성경입니다.

로마서는 크게 두 부분으로 나뉘어 집니다. 11장까지 로마서는 복음이 무엇인지를 설명합니다. 그리고 12장부터 ‘그러므로...’라는 말로 시작하는 성도의 삶에 대해 말합니다. ‘이신득의’(以信得義) 사상과 함께 로마서의 핵심이라고 할 수 있는 부분이 바로 1절과 2절입니다. 함께 읽으실까요? “그러므로 형제들아 내가 하나님의 모든 자비하심으로 너희를 권하노니 너희 몸을 하나님이 기뻐하시는 거룩한 산 제물로 드리라 이는 너희가 드릴 영적 예배니라 너희는 이 세대를 본받지 말고 오직 마음을 새롭게 함으로 변화를 받아 하나님의 선하시고 기뻐하시고 온전하신 뜻이 무엇인지 분별하도록 하라”(롬 12:1-2) 그리고 바울은 15장과 16장에서 아주 구체적인 사람들을 언급하고 그들의 삶에 대해서 말합니다. 함께 동역하는 성도들을 소개하고 서로 연락하고 기도하라고 권면합니다. 함께 교회되고 성도된 그들이 해야 할 가장 중요한 일을 언급합니다. 15장과 16장은 인사말이면서 로마서 전체의 결론이기도 합니다. 15장은 이렇게 시작합니다. “믿음이 강한 우리는 마땅히 믿음이 약한 자의 약점을 담당하고 자기를 기쁘게 하지 아니할 것이라 우리 각 사람이 이웃을 기쁘게 하되 선을 이루고 덕을 세우도록 할지니라”(롬 15:1-2) 연약함이 수치가 되지 않는 교회, 각자 받은 은혜로 서로의 연약함을 채우는 교회, 서로의 기쁨을 위해 섬기고 헌신하는 교회 - 사도 바울이 로마 교회에 전하는 복음입니다.

여기서 하나님께서 사도 바울을 통해서 성도라면, 교회라면 ‘마땅히’ ‘당연히’ 해야 할 일을 설명하고 있습니다. 그것은 먼저 믿는 성도라면 나중에 믿는 연약한 성도들의 약점을 ‘담당’하고 그들의 기쁨을 위해 희생하고 헌신해야 합니다. 그렇다면 무조건 연약한 사람들을 위해 일하기만 하면 될까요? 그렇지는 않습니다. 기준이 있습니다. 선을 이루고 덕을 세우는 일에 헌신해야 합니다. 비로소 연약한 성도가 강하게 되고 어린 성도가 성장하게 될 것입니다.

2. 인내와 위로의 하나님

그런데 그것이 쉽지는 않습니다. 다른 사람의 연약함이 이미 그들의 삶에 박힌 습관이 되고 삶의 방식으로 뿌리내리고 있을 때 변화와 성장은 참으로 힘들고 어려운 일입니다. 바울은 오늘 본문 5절에서 아주 재미있는 단어를 사용합니다. 그는 하나님을 표현하되 ‘인내와 위로의 하나님’이라고 했습니다. 성경이 하나님을 소개할 때 주목하셔야 합니다. 이스라엘이 전쟁을 준비할 때 하나님을 어떻게 소개할까요? ‘인내와 위로의 하나님’이 아닌 강하고 능하신 하나님으로 표현하지 않겠습니까? 환자가 있고 함께 눈물로 기도할 때 치료의 하나님을 부르지 않겠습니까? 우리는 삶의 상황에 따라서 하나님의 다양한 은혜를 기대하며 그 이름을 부릅니다. 바울은 지금 ‘인내와 위로의 하나님’을 부릅니다. 왜 그렇습니까? 우리가 하나님의 인내와 위로의 대상이기 때문입니다. 언제 그렇습니까? 우리의 연약함에 대해 그렇습니다. 우리의 비겁함에 대해 그렇습니다. 우리의 변화되지 않는 본성에 대해서 그렇습니다. 우리의 깊이 뿌리내린 죄와 악의 습성에 대해서 그렇습니다. 하나님께서 우리에 대해 오래 참으시고 오히려 우리를 위로하십니다.

저는 오늘 ‘인내와 위로의 하나님’이라는 표현에 많은 은혜를 받습니다. 우리의 연약함에 대해서 인내하시면서 오히려 우리를 위로하시는 하나님.... 이 말씀을 읽을 때 기억나는 얼굴이 있습니다. 제가 어릴 적 외가댁에 가면 오랜만에 손자를 보시는 외할머니는 무한 인자하셨습니다. 때로 제가 정말 억지를 쓰고 땡깡을 부려도 그저 가만히 지켜보셨습니다. 형들과 다투고 분해서 울고 있으면.... 몰래 불러서 먹을 것을 주셨습니다. 할아버지께 야단을 맞고 울고 있어도 몰래 불러서 먹을 것을 주셨습니다. 항상 저를 다독거리시면서 “괜찮다... 괜찮다...”고 말씀하셨습니다. 그리고 왜 그러셨는지는 모르겠는데... 제가 먹는 것을 보시면서...“고...고오... 천천히 묵어라”라는 말씀을 자주하셨습니다. 왜 고...고오.. 하셨는지는 지금도 모르겠습니다만... 그 인자하신 표정이 기억납니다. 한번도 저의 잘못을 꾸짖지 않으시고, 늘 괜찮다... 말씀하시고, 또 가만히 지켜보시고, 고...고오...하면서 쓰다듬어 주시고... 할머니의 손길이 ‘인내와 위로의 하나님’이라는 표현과 오버랩됩니다.

3. 그리스도 예수를 본받아

하나님은 그런 분이십니다. 우리를 기다려주시고, 우리를 위로하시며, 우리의 변화와 성장을 기다리시는 분입니다. 그리고 우리들에게도 같은 신적인 성품으로까지 자랄 것을 권면하십니다. 무엇에 대하여 말입니까? 본문을 다시 봅니다.

“이제 인내와 위로의 하나님이 너희로 그리스도 예수를 본받아 서로 뜻이 같게 하여 주사 / 한마음과 한 입으로 하나님 곧 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 아버지께 영광을 돌리게 하려 하노라 / 그러므로 그리스도께서 우리를 받아 하나님께 영광을 돌리심과 같이 너희도 서로 받으라“(롬 15:5-7)

6절에 보시면 우리가 “한 마음과 한 입으로 하나님 곧 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 아버지께 영광을 돌리게 하려 하노라”(롬 15:6)라고 말씀합니다. 우리가 하나님께 영광을 돌릴만한 사람들로 변화하고 성장하는 것이 하나님의 뜻입니다. 그렇게 되기 위해서는 어떤 과정이 필요할까요? 5절 하반절에 답이 있습니다. “너희로 그리스도 예수를 본받아 서로 뜻이 같게 하여 주사”라고 했습니다. 우리가 그리스도 예수를 본받아야 하고, 서로 같은 뜻을 품어야 합니다. 예수님의 뜻으로 하나가 되어야 합니다, 예수님과 같은 가치를 품어야 합니다.

아마도 이 말씀에 동의하지 않는 성도는 없을 것입니다. ‘그리스도를 본받아’라는 책이 전세계적인 베스트셀러인 것은 다 아시지 않습니까? 예수 믿는 사람들이 예수를 본받자는데 누가 반대를 하겠습니까? 하지만 여러분, 다소 막연하지 않습니까? 예수를 본받읍시다.... 예, 아멘...했습니다. 어떻게 말입니까? 여러분은 예수를 어떻게 본받고 있습니까? 이렇게 교회의 성도가 되면, 이렇게 매주 예배하면, 이렇게 헌금하고 헌신하면... 우리는 예수를 잘 본받고 있는 것일까요? 하나님은 사도 바울을 통해서 로마에 있는 교회에게 믿음으로 얻는 구원에 대해 말씀하셨고, 우리의 삶으로 드리는 거룩한 산 제사에 대해 말씀했습니다. 그리고 마지막으로 그러면 어떻게 거룩한 산제사를 하나님께 드리고, 어떻게 이 세상에서 예수 닮은 사람으로 살 수 있는지에 대해 말씀합니다. 바로 7절의 말씀입니다.

4. “서로 받으라!”

“그러므로 그리스도께서 우리를 받아 하나님께 영광을 돌리심과 같이 너희도 서로 받으라”(롬 15:5-7)

바울은 예수님께서 우리를 받으신 일, 십자가를 통해서 우리를 사랑하신 일, 우리를 제자와 교회와 성도로 인정하신 일, 우리에 대해 인내하시고 우리를 사랑하시되 끝까지 사랑하신 일 - 이 모든 일을 통해서 하나님께서 영광을 받으셨다고 했습니다. 하나님의 뜻과 하나가 되신 예수님께서 그 뜻으로 세상의 모든 시험과 유혹을 이기셨기 때문입니다. 그 뜻으로 우리를 정죄하고 판단하고 싶은 모든 유혹을 이기셨습니다. 그 뜻으로 우리의 연약함과 부족함, 우리의 수치와 더러움을 견디셨습니다. 그 뜻으로 십자가의 고통을 이기시고 무덤까지 내려가셨습니다. 그 뜻으로 우리의 밥이 되고 국이 되셨습니다. 하나님은 아버지와 같은 뜻을 품고 그 뜻에 순종하여 자신을 헌신하신 아들을 통해 무한 영광을 받으셨습니다.

그리고 성도와 교회에 대하여, 그 뜻으로 구원받은 여러분과 저에 대하여 뜻을 두셨습니다. 그리스도께서 우리를 받아 하나님께 영광을 돌리심과 같이.... “너희도 서로 받으라!”고 했습니다. 그리스도는 이미 우리를 받았습니다. 우리가 참 못나고 연약해도 우리를 받았습니다. 우리가, 이렇게 한심하기 짝이 없는 우리가 하나님의 자녀가 되고 하나님 나라의 백성이 되었습니다. 그리고 우리도 서로에 대해 그렇게 해야 합니다. 하나님께서 예수 그리스도를 통해서 받으신 다른 성도를 우리도 받아야 합니다. 정죄하고 판단하지 말아야 합니다. 기준을 없애자는 것이 아닙니다. 2절에서 분명한 기준이 제시되었습니다. ‘선을 이루고 덕을 세우도록’입니다. 스스로 기준이 되려고 하지 말아야 합니다. 하나님의 마음과 생각이 우리의 기준입니다. 내 마음으로 하나님의 생각을 정하지 말고 서로 받으라고 권면하신 하나님의 뜻을 따라... 서로 용납하고 받는 교회, 서로 품고 위로하며 권면하는 교회, 서로에게 변화의 이유가 되고 성장의 자양분이 되는 교회가 되어야 합니다. 하나님의 뜻입니다. 그 뜻에 순종할 때 우리도 하나님께 영광을 돌리게 됩니다. 예수님을 본받아서 말입니다.

성미의 김밥.... 14세 소녀 성미가 결코 먹지 않는 김밥, 50이 되고 60이 되어도 결코 삼킬 수 없는 고통스런 기억과 함께 하는 김밥.... 때로 우리는 이 김밥을 서로 나누고 있지는 않습니까? “내가 그 사람 보기 싫어서 다시는 교회 안간다.”는 말, “내가 그 말이 상처가 되어서 차라리 교회를 안가고 만다는 말...” 우리가 이런 말들을 서로 나누면서 예수 믿는다고 자랑하고 있지는 않습니까? 내가 힘들어서 나도 모르는 사이에 다른 사람을 힘들게 하고, 내 가슴에 부는 삭풍을 나보다 연약한 사람들의 마음에 깊이 패인 칼자국으로 남기고 있지는 않습니까? 교회는 내가 만난 겨울 칼바람을 따뜻한 봄바람으로 바꾸는 ‘하나님의 사람들’입니다. 세상의 바람이 하나님의 은혜로 변화되는 사람들이 교회입니다. 그 은혜로 동력화되는 성도와 교회를 기대합니다. 

There is a comedian named 'Lee Sung Mi.' She is quite famous for her clever performance. She talked about an episode of Kimbap on a talk show. Many of the Korean comedians had surprisingly poor and difficult childhood. Lee Sung Mi grew up without a mother and suffered from her father's lack of care. During middle and high school, she was mostly home alone. When she was in middle school, a close friend her invited Sung Mi to her house to get ready for the field trip together. The friend knew about Sung Mi’s situation and wanted to help out. She said she would ask her mother to prepare kimbap for both of them. Sung Mi was excited. It would have been the first time she would go on a field trip with kimbap as her lunch. She went to her friend's house early in the morning. The friend’s mother gladly agreed to make kimbab for both of them. The friend's family was also poor and lived in a studio. As the friend’s mother made kimbap, two of them eagerly waited and talked about the field trip. Sung Mi felt what a mother is like from her friend’s mother. All the while, the friend's father was getting ready to go to work. He asked what they were doing. The friend introduced Sung Mi, and explained that they are making kimbap for both of them for their field trip. The father got very angry. He started beating his wife and yelled at her. "Are you crazy? We barely have enough to feed ourselves, why would you make kimbap for her?" He threw all the kimbap in the air. Sung Mi ran away from the place. Ever since then, the comedian Sung Mi never had kimbap. As she talked about kimbap, her voice teared up.

Perhaps we can understand where the friend’s father is coming from. He had lived a really hard and poor life. In order to make a living in the world, he had to dodge many obstacles. He had to sell his body and labor to support his family. He lived a cold life that could not afford a little room to help others. He probably wanted to burst his anger somewhere. When he did so, he left a big scar on a girl's heart. Perhaps the friend’s father left to work that day with a lighter heart. Then, he probably worked hard and did his best to support his family from the cold and windy world. The cold and windy world that the father had to experience was now deeply engraved in the heart of a girl, in the heart of the friend who invited the girl, and in the heart of the friend’s mother who sympathized.

1. 마땅히 할 일

We often refer to the book of Romans as the most well-organized Scripture of Paul’s theology. The book of Romans is a message to the believers who never heard of the topic 'salvation by faith alone.' But this book in the Bible is not a dry one that only speaks of theology. Theology is an easy way to explain who God is to people.

하나님을 설명하는 가장 좋은 단어는 무엇일까요? 예수 그리스도이며 십자가이며, 곧 사랑입니다. 로마서는 세상을 향한 하나님의 사랑이 가장 잘 표현된 성경입니다. What are the best words to describe God? They are Jesus Christ, the cross, and love. The book of Romans is the Scripture that best expresses God's love for the world.

The book of Romans is largely divided into two parts. Until Chapter 11, it explains what the gospel is. Starting from chapter 12, it refers to the life of a believer beginning with the word 'therefore.’ Verses 1 and 2 are the core of the book of Romans

“그러므로 형제들아 내가 하나님의 모든 자비하심으로 너희를 권하노니 너희 몸을 하나님이 기뻐하시는 거룩한 산 제물로 드리라 이는 너희가 드릴 영적 예배니라 너희는 이 세대를 본받지 말고 오직 마음을 새롭게 함으로 변화를 받아 하나님의 선하시고 기뻐하시고 온전하신 뜻이 무엇인지 분별하도록 하라” (롬 12:1-2) "Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12: 1-2).

Then, in chapters 15 and 16, Paul refers to specific people and speaks about their lives. He introduces the believers who work together and asks to communicate with each other and pray. Paul mentions the most important work that must be done by the believers who came together as church. Chapters 15 and 16 are the greetings and conclusion of the book of Romans as a whole. Chapter 15 begins this way.

“믿음이 강한 우리는 마땅히 믿음이 약한 자의 약점을 담당하고 자기를 기쁘게 하지 아니할 것이라 우리 각 사람이 이웃을 기쁘게 하되 선을 이루고 덕을 세우도록 할지니라”(롬 15:1-2) "We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up." (Romans 15: 1-2)

A church where the weakness is not a shame, a church that fills each other's weakness with grace, and a church that devotes to each other's joy is what Paul preaches to the church of Rome.

Through Paul, God is explaining what a church must and ought to do. It is for the believers to sacrifice and devote for other believers’ weaknesses. If so, do we only have to unconditionally work for those who are weak? It is not so.  There is a standard. We must devote ourselves to building good and virtue. By doing so, the weak will become strong and the young will mature.

2. 인내와 위로의 하나님

But that is not easy. When the weakness of others is already a habit in their lives and is rooted in the way of life, change and growth are truly difficult. Paul uses very interesting words today in verse 5. He described God as that of ‘patience and comfort.' You should pay attention when the Scripture introduces God. How does Israel introduce God when they prepare for war? Don’t they describe God as a strong and mighty one, not a patient and comforting? Don’t we call for God who heals when we pray in tears for the sick? We look and call for various graces of God according to the circumstances of our life. Paul now calls for "God of patience and comfort." Why? Because we are the object of God's patience and comfort. For what? For our weaknesses and cowardice. It is about our unchanging nature. It is about the sins of evil that we have deeply rooted in. God is patient with us and comforts us.

I am grateful for the expression of 'God of patience and comfort.' In other words, God who comforts us and endures our weakness. When I read this statement, there is someone who comes up in my mind. When I was little, my grandmother was infinitely generous when I visited her after a long time. Even when I was being very difficult, all she did was watch me. When I got into arguments and fights with my brothers and cried, she pulled me to the side and gave me something to eat. When I got yelled at by my grandfather and was crying, she pulled me to the side and gave me something to eat. She always told me, "It's okay, it's okay." I am not sure why she did so, but every time she saw me eat, she would say, “Easy, slow down and take your time.” I am still not sure what she exactly meant.  I still remember her face when she was talking to me though. I remember that loving and caring face. She never yelled at me. She would pat me and hold me close. My grandmother’s touch reminds me of ‘God of patience and comfort.”

3. 그리스도 예수를 본받아

God is so. He waits for us. He comforts us. He waits for us to change and grow. He encourages us to grow to have divine characters.

“이제 인내와 위로의 하나님이 너희로 그리스도 예수를 본받아 서로 뜻이 같게 하여 주사 한마음과 한 입으로 하나님 곧 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 아버지께 영광을 돌리게 하려 하노라 그러므로 그리스도께서 우리를 받아 하나님께 영광을 돌리심과 같이 너희도 서로 받으라“(롬 15:5-7) May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God. (Romans 15:5-7)

In verse 6, we say, "So that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ." (Romans 15: 6). It is God's will that we change and grow into people who can glorify God. What does it take to be that way? There is an answer in the second half of verse 5. "The same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had." We must imitate Christ Jesus and have the same attitude. We must be one in the will of Jesus, and must have the same values of Jesus.

There would be no believer who does not agree with this statement. The book 'Imitation of Christ' is a bestseller worldwide. Which believer will oppose the idea of following Jesus? However, does it sound a little vague? Let us imitate Jesus. Yes, we should. How do you do so? How do you imitate Jesus? Are we imitating Jesus when we become believers? If we come to worship service each Sunday, and make offerings and serve, are we imitating Jesus? Are we doing this right? Through Paul, God spoke of salvation by faith to the church of Rome and spoke about offering our very lives as the holy sacrifice.

4. “서로 받으라!”

“그러므로 그리스도께서 우리를 받아 하나님께 영광을 돌리심과 같이 너희도 서로 받으라”(롬 15:7) Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God. (Romans 15:7)

Paul wrote that our acceptance to Jesus, Christ’s love for us through the Cross, taking us as the church and believers, and patiently loving us to the end are all how God was glorified. Jesus, being one with God's will, overcame all temptations of the world in His will. In that sense he overcame all temptations to condemn and judge us. In that sense he endured our weaknesses and deficiencies, our shame and filthiness. In that sense he overcame the pain of the cross and went down to the grave. God has received the infinite glory through His Son who has the same will as the Father and obeyed his will and devoted himself.

For the believers and the church, we are all saved by that will. As Christ received us and glorified God, he tells us, "Receive one another!" Even when we are unbearable and weak, he has received us. We, being united in this manner, became children of God and became the people of the Kingdom of God. We must do the same to each other. We need each other whom God has received through Jesus Christ. Do not condemn and judge others. We do not want to lose the standards. In verse 2, clear standards were presented. Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up. You should not try to be a standard on your own. God's will and thoughts are our standards. Do not set your thoughts in your own heart, but follow the will of God, which encourages you to receive one another. When we obey God’s will, we also glorify God. This is what Jesus did.

Do we have a painful memory like that kimbap of Lee Sung Mi? Do you ever hear someone say he is not going to church because he does not want to see someone’s face? Or, do you ever hear someone say she is not going to church because she was hurt? Can you be proud to be believing in Jesus when you hear such words? Are you hurting others and leaving painful memories because of your own pain? We are the people of God who gathered together as a church to change the pains into God’s grace. I hope that we can be the believers and church who embrace such grace.​
